Is Diani Beach the Pearl of Kenya’s Coast?
Located in Kwale County on Kenya’s southern coast, approximately 30 kilometres south of Mombasa, Diani Beach is consistently voted one of Africa’s best beach destinations. The Beach and Activities
The beach spans approximately 10 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand with green tropical vegetation. The reef waters offer an excellent opportunity for the following activities, which include: Swimming (it’s safe), snorkelling, scuba diving, kite surfing, windsurfing, and deep-sea fishing. Boat trips to Wasini Island and the marine park are also available; these offer sightings of bottlenose and humpback dolphins, turtles, and reef fish. Another activity available is the sunset traditional dhow cruise, as you watch the sun go down, an exceptional way to experience the coast.

How to Get There
Diani Beach is accessible by air, rail, or road. Visitors can use an SGR train from Nairobi terminal to Mombasa terminal, which takes about 5 to 6 hours, followed by a shuttle or matatu to Diani. Alternatively, the fastest way to reach the beach is by air. A direct domestic flight from Nairobi to Ukunda airstrip takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. The airstrip is located just minutes from Diani Beach.

When to visit
Just like any beach, the best time to visit Diani is during the dry seasons (January-March and July-October) when the weather is warm and dry. The rainy seasons (April-June and November-December) can bring heavy downpours. However, the coast remains warm year-round.
