Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest protected area, spans 3,893 km² and was established in 1952. At its heart lies the dramatic Murchison Falls, where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow gorge before plunging 43 meters in a powerful display of nature.
The park is home to an abundance of wildlife, including lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe. The Nile itself hosts hippos, crocodiles, and over 450 bird species.
